Your Wall, with a Little More You

3D room visualization of a warm-toned paper deer head with red antlers above a teal cabinet, beside pottery and wooden wall decor.

There’s a space on the wall you keep noticing. Maybe it’s beside a favorite picture, above a cabinet, or next to the sofa. Nothing is wrong with it. You just haven’t found the thing that feels right there yet.

What if that thing was something you made?

A papercraft kit starts as paper pieces that you fold and glue into a three-dimensional model. The finished piece can become part of the room—and a small reminder of the time you spent making it. Yona DIY kits are supplied for you to assemble; the models shown here represent the finished creations.

These three room ideas explore what happens when you add just one piece. Move each slider to compare the same corner before and after.

All room images below are 3D visualizations for display inspiration, not photographs of customer installations.

1. A playful silhouette beside familiar things

The black frames, glass objects, and green leaves already give this corner a personality. A Black Climbing Cat adds a playful sense of movement.

After

Drag the divider, or choose a view:
Same corner, one playful silhouette. The Black Climbing Cat adds movement beside the framed print.

Its dark outline echoes the picture frame, while the climbing pose draws your eye across the open patch of wall. There’s enough room around the paws and tail to see its whole silhouette.

Try the same idea beside a print or a shelf you already love. You don’t need to match every object. Look for one connection—a color, a line, a mood—and leave the model a little breathing room.

2. A little color by the sofa

Here, the lamp, pale wall, and textured furnishings do most of the decorating. The Flamingo adds a bright note to that quiet mix.

Before

After

Drag the divider, or choose a view:
Same lamp, sofa, and wall. The Flamingo brings a bright note and a curved outline to the space.

The curve of its long neck draws the eye upward. The folded planes bring depth, too: the decoration projects into the room, rather than lying flat like a print.

If you’re drawn to a colorful model, give it some open space. Look at it alongside the lamp, sofa, and anything already hanging nearby. A single lively piece may be all the change that corner needs.

3. A focal point above the cabinet

It’s easy to fill a cabinet top with things you love. The wall above it can take a little more thought.

Before

After

Drag the divider, or choose a view:
Same cabinet and pottery. The deer head creates a focal point in the open space above them.

In this scene, the deer head gives that space a focal point. Its warm tones sit comfortably with the pottery and wood, while the red antlers add a distinct outline above the display.

Notice the space the antlers need. Think about the full shape of your chosen model, including anything that reaches out to the sides or above it. A calm background helps those details stay visible.

Start with the corner you already have

You don’t need an entirely empty wall. Each of these spaces already has furniture, texture, or a few objects with character. The paper model becomes one more part of the story.

Before choosing a kit, check its finished dimensions and picture the whole model in your room. A close view can make a piece feel larger, so look at the spot from the doorway or the seat you use most. Let your own space guide the choice.

Once you’ve assembled your model and the glue has fully dried, choose a fixing suited to its back and your wall. Our wall-hanging guide walks through the two mounting approaches.

Then take a step back. The room is still your room. There’s just something in it now that comes with a story you can tell: “I made that.”
